A Portrait by Fru

A portrait-style drawing of one of my characters. :B This is meant to look like a studio-style photo. Only, it's obviously not photorealistic.

He is a 20-something smarmy git who likes playing tennis and drinking tea and stuff. Hahaha. He's smiling in the picture cause it'll probably be used at his father's business for the 'Employee of the Month' frame. His family is very rich. His father, Mr. V. Hickle, owns a car company of some kind.

His name is T'minty. Pronounced "Tuh-Minty." (Don't ask ... O_o) Since T'minty is not really a name, I guess I could call him "Timothy", instead, if that makes more sense!

My friends and I make up these characters and write stories about them ^_^

And I completely deny creating Facebook profiles for them!!! That would just be ... ridiculous ... >__>

Anyway ... enjoy! Something is probably wrong with the anatomy ... but I like the way the colouring turned out. :9

Medium: pencil, GIMP
Tags: guy human portrait smiling blonde smarmy
Arlene's Sunwaker by Fru

For a Trading Post. :} I kind of forgot to upload it until right now!

The character design is by the wonderfully skilled Arlene. You can find her at http://rleeny.artspots.com/

This creature is a Sunwaker, which she says love to play instruments and communicate through music, so I went with my own favourite instrument -- the harp!

And, and, I even did a background!! That's why I'm uploading it. I was impressed with myself, at the time. :9

So, Sunwakers are totally copyright Arlene. I just drew it. =)

Medium: GIMP, tablet
Tags: music forest creature harp river trading post instrument arlene sunwaker
Kooky & Dragon by Fru

For Trading Post #26, Kooky! (I hope it's okay that I am posting this here!)

=)

I like the way it turned out, apart from the not-too-lovely background. Kooky (the fox!) is (c) to his creator, who may be found here: http://kooky.jaxpad.com/

The dragon guy is my own creation, I put him there because it wouldn't have made any sense for Kooky to be standing there talking to himself ...
Finbarr's Gargoyle by Fru

So I lived in Ireland for 6 months, and I lived like right next to this amazing cathedral, St. Finbarr's, and I took a lot of pictures of the gargoyles and things on it. =]

And then I came home and made this picture using a brush pen, then added some colour with Gimp! And that's it.

Medium: brush pen, Gimp
Tags: brush pen gargoyle st. cathedral finbarr cross-hatching
Farns as a Fennec by Fru

For my trading post I asked everyone to draw my human characters as anthros. SpiritWolf had the idea to turn one of them, Farnsworth, into a fennec, and that happens to be exactly what I was thinking! So I decided to do my own version of Farns as a fennec. :B

I didn't use any references, so he might look more like dog or something ... :X

Once again I use my magic secret coloured-pencil-only-not technique in Photoshop! AHAHAHAHAAA! >__> <__<

Medium: pencil, Photoshop
Tags: fennec photoshop Farnsworth headshot
Bifruki by Fru

This is my avatar, Bifruki. :9

Hahaa!

Yeah ... there are some mistakes in the anatomy, not to mention the colouring sucks (auugh can't do cel shading!) and don't even talk to me about the GRADIENT background! XD *falls off a cliff*

... but, uh, I kinda wanted to have an actual full-body pic of her in my gallery, just for reference. ^__^

I still haven't fully decided on her design. Might add some markings and such eventually, but this is what she looks like for now. Woo! Oh, and she's ... um ... a dragon. I guess. But she's kinda kangaroo-like in build :3

Medium: photoshop
Tags: dragon avatar bifruki fru
Jake by Fru

Done for Trading Post #2 at Artspots. =) This is Jake the blue jay, a mascot for a college. I don't actually know too much about the character, since the Trading Post was kind of a secret santa type thing this time around. But I like birds, so I had a go at Jake. It's a pencil sketch coloured in Photoshop; quite a few people have mistaken it for coloured pencils, but the colour is just Photoshoppage--the original is completely grayscale.
Again, it's not as anthro-ish or cartoonish as I was going for. I'm going to have to work on that, though I enjoy the style I've got going right now too =P

Disclaimer: Jake the blue jay is (C) to his creator (who I don't actually know, but whose name is Lauren, from what I have heard) and possibly the creator's college.

Medium: pencil, photoshop
Tags: jay photoshop blue mascot College jake
Seurat by Fru

This was done for Trading Post #1 over at the Artspots forum! It's Seurat the Cheetah, who is the head cheese of the place. :D It was originally going to be just a quick skecth, but I decided to fling some colour into it in Photoshop and I really like the way it turned out. Possibly not as anthro-ish as Seurat is usually depicted, but ah well.
Disclaimer: This is not my character!
